NEWSLETTER
FROM THE PRESIDENT
With the coming of 2001, it’s time again to let you know the financial
shape of the Mainliner Club. I'm happy to report that the club is
on sound financial footing. This is, of course, due to your continued
support of the stores. What that means is that the Mainliner Club will
be able to help sponsor more and different events this year. Another
contributor to the store’s success is Barbie Branchetti, the store manager,
and all the women who work at the store who keep the items that you want in
stock. They work very hard for you. Do you know someone who might like
to work at the store? If so contact Barbie at 303-780-5836.
After 9 years as the Mainliner Club president, it is time for me to step
down. I want to thank all the directors, especially Paula Roger, my
vice-president, who have supported me and have made the Denver club the best
on the system. I’m going to remain involved with the club as director.
Look inside for a list of past presidents involved with the club.
John Alaird, DENCG, is the newly elected president and Diane Shibao, DENTK,is
the new vice-president. John is ver capable and enthusiastic about his
new roll. Please offer him all the support that I’ve enjoyed through
the years.
In July or August we will again have a limited number of tickets for Bike
Train to Winter Park. It will include a train ride, lift for bikes, and
tickets to other events that are going on at Winter Park. More
information will be available later on in the year.
Thanks for your support
Keith Hipsher - DENMM
MAINLINER CLUB STORE
Winter certainly has been a pleasant memory this year with no
tortuous snowy drives to DIA. With the advent of spring and glorious but blinding
sunrises, driving along Pena Boulevard will be more comfortable with a great pair of
Serengeti sunglasses. Our Prices are lower than the outlet shops. And they are superb
Protection against all those nasty UV rays. They are partial blue-blockers which actually
heighten visibility in bad weather, and they are the only sunglasses which I have found to
allow pleasant driving without going absolutely blind on those brilliant spring mornings
while driving into the rising sun.
Should you find yourself caught in a shower, either hiking in the
mountain or on the golf course, GiGi has a great line of vinyl ponchos to keep you dry.
They are lightweight and fold neatly into a little pouch. The color is most attractive
aviation blue, and there is even a small pack of golf tees tucked in the pocket. We have a
good supply of golf balls to see you through the season, plus our golf towels are thick
and pretty enough to go in your powder room. Don't forget a new hat to shield you from the
strong mountain rays, and our selection this spring is very sporty.
Most of you by now have learned to take advantage of the 30 %
savings on restaurants around the Denver area, courtesy of Dining Dollars. Purchased for
$7.00, they can be redeemed for $10.00 at many excellent establishments. We always carry a
good supply, the updated list even has restaurants in Colorado Springs and at various
places in the mountains. Those hot little dollars can even be used for entertainment, auto
rental and staying at some of the fine lodges in Estes Park. They only continue to get
better as new establishments are added each month for your enjoyment. We airline people
just love our bargains, and this is a good one.
By now most of you have become familiar with Barbie Branchetti who
is doing a splendid job of managing the Mainliner store. The dust is settling and the
ladies are enjoying another benign Boss. So, we look forward to many months of good
shopping fun with all of you and to selling those spiffy new sweaters and logo items which
show the world how proud we are to be part of United Airlines.
